About the TELC B1 Exam

The TELC B1 German exam is a standardized test that assesses your ability to communicate in German at an intermediate level. It covers all four language skills: reading, listening, writing, and speaking.

Exam Structure

The written part of the TELC B1 exam consists of:

  • Leseverstehen (Reading Comprehension): Tests your ability to understand written German texts. You'll need to identify main ideas, specific details, and implied meanings.
  • Sprachbausteine (Language Elements): Focuses on grammar and vocabulary. You'll complete texts by choosing the right words or grammatical forms.
  • Hörverstehen (Listening Comprehension): Assesses your ability to understand spoken German in different contexts.
  • Schriftlicher Ausdruck (Writing): Tests your ability to write texts in German, such as emails, letters, or short essays.
